DL25 is the driving test report — the record of every fault on a test. Its structure is the backbone of a good mock.

What it is

"DL25" is the long-standing name for the Driving Test Report — the record an examiner builds during the practical test, marking every fault against a fixed list of assessable items.

It used to be a paper form. Examiners now record the test on a tablet, but the terminology and structure carry over, and the candidate is still given a printed copy at the end whether they pass or fail. It is where a debrief starts.

The assessable items

Each item has a place to tally driving faults and to mark a serious or dangerous fault. The items run roughly in the order they come up on a drive — from controls and moving off, through junctions, progress and positioning, to the manoeuvre and any independent driving.

Mirrors, signals and observation
Junctions — approach speed, observation and turning
Progress, hazard awareness and planning
Positioning, lane discipline and following distance
The set manoeuvre and, if asked, the emergency stop

Using it for a mock
