Cookie policy

Last updated: 24 February 2024

This Cookie policy explains how Lesson Diary uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our app, and how you can control them. Read it alongside our Privacy policy, which covers the personal data we handle.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let the site remember things between pages and visits — for example, that you are signed in, or that you have already answered the cookie banner. Some cookies are set by us; others are set by third parties whose services we use.

How we ask for consent

We only set cookies that are not strictly necessary after you have agreed to them through our cookie banner, which is provided by our consent tool, FreePrivacyPolicy (TermsFeed). You can accept or reject non-essential cookies, and change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the banner. If you reject them, the parts of the Service that rely on them may not work as intended.

Strictly necessary cookies

These make the Service work and cannot be switched off through the cookie banner.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
lesson_diary_session Lesson Diary Keeps you signed in for the duration of your visit Session
XSRF-TOKEN Lesson Diary Protects forms against cross-site request forgery Session
A cookie consent preference (for example, cookieconsent_status) Lesson Diary (via FreePrivacyPolicy) Remembers the choices you make in the cookie banner Up to 12 months

Analytics cookies

Set only with your consent, these help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. This data is not sold to third parties.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
_ga, _ga_* Google Distinguishes users for analytics Up to 2 years
mp_*_mixpanel Mixpanel Analytics; also supports session recording used to find usability problems Up to 1 year

Mixpanel's session recording shows us how visitors move through the Service — clicks, taps and navigation — so we can find and fix problems. We configure it not to capture the content of what you type, so recordings show movement only, not the information you enter. We do not use recordings for advertising and we do not sell them.

Advertising and measurement cookies

Set only with your consent, these measure how well our advertising works and, where permitted, help show relevant ads.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
_gcl_au Google Advertising and conversion measurement Up to 90 days
_fbp Meta (Facebook) Advertising and conversion measurement Up to 90 days

Third-party cookies

When we use services from providers such as Google, Mixpanel, Meta or Stripe, those providers may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies, and their use is governed by the provider's own privacy and cookie policies. Cookie names and durations may change when a provider updates its service.

Managing cookies

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the cookie banner when you first visit, and change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the banner.

You can also control cookies through your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and warn you when a cookie is set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service working. Guidance is available at allaboutcookies.org.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, so please check back to see the current version.
